Melanie Collup is a story teller at heart. It all started with a murder mystery film she co-wrote and starred in with her fourth grade classmates. It was quite a hit at Open House Night.
Flash forward, well, let's just say, many years... Melanie got involved with community theater. Some of her favorite roles were Bella in Neil Simon's Lost in Yonkers and Jean in Christine Thatcher's Emma's Child. She fell in love with performing live.
So a move to New York City seemed like a logical step. While in NYC, she performed in many Off-off-Broadway productions and a national tour of Letters From the Front. As part of that touring production, Melanie was part of the first-ever theatrical performance to take place at the Pentagon.
Eventually, Melanie settled with her husband in Southern California where she has shifted her focus to on-camera acting.
Small town warmth with big city smarts
In addition to telling stories through her acting, Melanie is also a screenwriter. She has written several feature films and shorts, as well as a webseries. She is currently writing two television series and a feature film with some very talented co-writers.
Two of her screenplays, Two Cars/One Space and Yes, Who, I Love You Too have been produced. You can see a short clip from Yes, Who, I Love You Too on the Photos and Videos page.
Melanie loves to travel with her husband. From staying in an ice hotel in the Arctic Circle to diving the ocean depths off the coast of Puerto Rico, Melanie loves finding new experiences in new places.
